Shipwrecks of Lake Superior from Munising and Pictured Rocks
August 22nd-24th, 2008
Come join us on our next shipwreck diving adventure! You will encounter several famous shipwrecks from the Alger Underwater Preserve or Pictured Rocks National Reserve! Preserved by the cold fresh water of Lake Superior, these shipwrecks offer some of the finest sport diving in the Northeast. Experience shipwrecks that lie just 10 to 100 feet below the surface. Check out the nearly intact and most famous shipwreck, The Smith Moore, a wooden steam barge in only 90 feet of water. It was lost in the Munising East Channel in 1889 as the result of damages suffered in a collision. Looking for something shallower, The Bermuda, 150 foot wooden schooner that sank in the spring of 1870 in Murray Bay on Grand Island. Her top deck is just 12 feet below the water's surface sitting upright and waiting for visitors to experience her story.
