CLASSES: Specialty - Underwater Navigation

Underwater Navigator Specialty
This course is designed to be an introduction to underwater navigation and to help you develop the skills and knowledge necessary for use in underwater navigation.

Prerequisites
To qualify for the Underwater Navigator course, you must:

• Be certified as an Open Water Diver, Junior Open Water Diver or have a qualifying certification with another training organization.
• Be 10 years of age or older.

The Underwater Navigation Dive conducted during an Advanced Diver program may be counted toward this specialty at the discretion of the instructor conducting the specialty course.

Course Overview
The purpose of the Underwater Navigator Specialty course is to familiarize divers with the skills, knowledge, planning, organization, procedures, techniques, problems, hazards and enjoyment of underwater navigation. Training should emphasize fun and safety. During then Underwater Navigator course, you will learn the following:

• The planning, organization, procedures, techniques, problems and hazards of underwater navigation.
• Methods of estimating distances underwater.
• Natural navigation techniques.
• Using underwater patterns.
• Dive site relocation techniques.
• Compass navigation techniques.

This course is designed to be an introduction to basic underwater navigation and to help you develop the skills, knowledge and practical techniques necessary to enjoy this interesting activity.

Course Costs
The Underwater Navigator Specialty Certification from Wet N Rugged Sports includes:

• 4 hours of classroom lecture
• Four Certification Dives
• Certification Processing and Administrative fees
• Additional Equipment required: Underwater compass available at Wet N Rugged Sports
